Overview

Rubbish Removal explained — in plain English.

What it is

On-demand rubbish removal: we bring the van, the crew and the muscle. You point at what's going, we load it, dispose of it legally and sweep up after. Priced by volume actually taken — not a flat skip rate for space you don't use.

Who it's for

Homeowners after a clear-out, landlords between tenants, builders and trades on small projects, garden renovators, and anyone who needs waste gone without the faff of skip hire.

When you need it

End of a renovation, post-Christmas clear-out, garden tidy, before a house sale viewing, after a DIY project, or whenever the garage, shed or driveway has become a dumping ground.

Why professional

A 6-yard skip costs £280–£380 in Ayrshire, needs a road permit if on the street (£30–£80/week), can't take fridges, mattresses or plasterboard without surcharges, and you load it yourself in the rain. Same-day uplift typically costs less and you don't lift a finger.

If you leave it

What it costs to put this off.

  • Piled waste attracts rats and insurance issues — most home insurers reduce cover for properties with significant external waste accumulation.
  • Soft furnishings left outside become unrecyclable within 4 weeks once damp gets into the foam — what was a free council uplift becomes paid landfill.
  • Council fly-tip enforcement in North & South Ayrshire issues fines averaging £400 per incident — and any fly-tipped item traceable back to you (an old letter, a parcel label) puts the fine on the householder.

Common mistakes

The traps to avoid.

  • Booking a skip without measuring — half-empty skips are the most expensive waste removal there is.
  • Hiring an unlicensed 'man with a van' from social media — when your sofa appears in a layby, the council traces it back to you.
  • Burning garden waste — illegal in most Ayrshire residential areas under nuisance and clean-air regulations.

Our process

How a typical rubbish removal runs.

Same process every job — from your first call to the final tidy-up.

  1. 01

    Free site assessment

We visit (or review your photos) and, once we've seen the job in person, give you a clear, written, fixed-price quote — no hourly clock, no surprise disposal fees. Once it's in writing, the price won't change.

  2. 02

    Fast booking

Tell us what you've got — photos via WhatsApp are ideal. We'll book you in for a day that suits you.

  3. 03

    Load, tidy, gone

We bring the van and 2–3 crew. You don't lift a thing. Area tidied on completion.

  4. 04

    Licensed disposal & recycling

Loads sorted at SEPA-licensed transfer stations. Recyclables, metals and re-usable items routed away from landfill. Waste transfer note available on request.

  5. 05

    Final tidy & sign-off

Doors locked, keys returned, property left tidy. Where a property is being resold or re-let we can arrange cleaners to come in. SEPA waste transfer note available on request.

Benefits

What you actually get
when you book SK.

Pay for what's taken

Quoted by van load, not by skip size. Half a van costs roughly half the price.

No permit hassle

Skips on the street need council permits. Our vans don't — we load from the kerb in under 90 minutes.

No restricted-item surcharges

Mattresses, fridges, sofas, plasterboard — all included in your quote, no skip surcharges.

Fast booking

We aim to get bookings in the diary quickly, with urgent slots available where we can.

Carry-out service

We come into the garden, shed, garage or attic. No need to drag heavy items to the kerb yourself.

Licensed paperwork

SEPA waste transfer note available on request for your records — useful if you're a landlord, trader or selling the property.

In detail

Everything that falls under rubbish removal.

Household rubbish removal

Furniture, white goods, electricals, mattresses, carpets, kitchenware, clothes, toys, general bagged waste. We carry from any room or floor — no requirement to bring items to the kerb. Standard 3.5t van takes the equivalent of a 6-yard skip.

Garden waste removal

Hedge cuttings, branches, turf, soil, decking and fencing offcuts, old garden furniture, sheds (see Shed Clearance), greenhouses, planters, gravel and patio slabs. Heavy materials (rubble, soil, slabs) priced separately as they hit weight thresholds quickly.

Builders & trade waste

Plasterboard, timber offcuts, broken tiles, bathroom strip-outs, kitchen rip-outs, bagged rubble, packaging. We service local trades on a same-day basis — a phone call before lunch gets a van on-site that afternoon. Trade accounts available.

WEEE & restricted items

All fridges, freezers, TVs, white goods and electricals collected and processed under WEEE regulations. Hazardous household waste (paints, oils, small chemicals) accepted in domestic quantities. There are just a couple of things we can't take — car tyres and asbestos. Asbestos needs a licensed specialist for safe disposal, so we're always happy to point you in the right direction.

Volume guidance & pricing

Single item (sofa, mattress, fridge): £40–£75. Quarter van load: £90–£140. Half van load: £160–£240. Full 3.5t van: £280–£420. Full 7.5t van: £480–£700. Heavy materials (rubble, soil) add weight surcharge above 500kg. All quotes fixed and written — no creep.

How much does rubbish removal cost in Ayrshire?+

Single items start at £40. A quarter van is typically £90–£140. A full 3.5t van (equivalent to a 6-yard skip) is £280–£420. You pay for the volume actually taken — not a fixed skip rate.

How quickly can you uplift?+

We aim to get most Ayrshire bookings in the diary quickly. Urgent next-day slots usually available — call Scott on 07480 164649 to check this week's diary.

Do I need to bring everything outside?+

No. We carry from any room, garden, shed, garage or attic. The price you're quoted includes the carry-out — no extra charges for stairs or distance from the kerb.

Can you take a fridge or mattress as a single item?+

Yes — single-item collection from £40 for a fridge, £45 for a mattress, £50 for a sofa. Often same-week.

What about builders waste and plasterboard?+

Yes — we run a trade account service for local builders, joiners and bathroom fitters. Same-day uplift, plasterboard separated for recycling, invoices available.

Do you take garden waste?+

All of it — hedge cuttings, turf, branches, soil, slabs, decking, fencing, old furniture. Heavy materials are priced separately as they hit van weight limits quickly.

Is it cheaper than a skip?+

Usually yes. A 6-yard skip in Ayrshire costs £280–£380 plus £30–£80 permit if on the road, plus surcharges for fridges/mattresses, and you load it yourself. Our equivalent van is £280–£420 fully loaded and carried by us — no permits, no surcharges, no DIY.

What happens to the rubbish?+

Loads go to SEPA-licensed transfer stations. As much as possible is diverted from landfill — metals to scrap, electricals through WEEE, soft furniture for re-use where possible, timber to biomass.

Do you give a waste transfer note?+

Yes — on request. Just ask and we'll email one over. Useful if you're a landlord, trader, or selling the property.

Do you cover my area?+

Full Ayrshire and Clyde coast: Largs, Ayr, Kilmarnock, Irvine, Troon, Prestwick, Saltcoats, Wemyss Bay. No travel surcharge inside the service area.
